Protecting items inside a cardboard box has always been the main aim of those who deal with packaging for transport.
There have been many, and often unreliable, systems used to obtain this type of protection: polystyrene chips, paper, air bubble film, cardboard waste and fillers of various kinds.
What was the result of these systems?

  • large stocks of materials by those who have to pack and deliver the product, therefore multiple transportation by suppliers and large spaces dedicated to storage
  • very low protection inside the package (if the item moves around inside the package, the edges – notoriously, the most delicate parts – have no protective material)
  • enormous amounts of materials to dispose of by those who receive the product

What alternative is there to these systems?

  • place the item to package on a strong die cut cardboard sheet according to the product’s height
  • push the cardboard and product inside an automatic wrapping machine
  • wrap the product and cardboard together
  • bend the cardboard according to pre-die cutting dimensions and insert it into the box

A product that is boxed in this manner can be shipped as packaged cargo and handled roughly without causing any damage whatsoever to the product inside.
Area srl manufactures two different types of machines according to the requested production capacity, which automatically execute these operations: Ring 40 or 60 for large production (3-4 packages per minute) and R9.42 or 62 or 100 for more limited production (1 package per minute).
The result obtained is definitely significant:

  • very little plastic used (a few grams) and is recyclable
  • cardboard sheets reused for other functions
  • absolute certainty of the packaged product
  • much lower packaging costs
